Islamabad — November 5, 2025

A powerful suicide blast outside Islamabad’s kachehri court on Tuesday left at least 12 people martyred and 27 injured, in what officials described as a “targeted attack by Indian-sponsored militant proxies.”

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi confirmed that the explosion occurred at 12:39 p.m., when the bomber failed to enter the courthouse and instead detonated near a police vehicle. “The suicide attacker remained in the area for 10 to 15 minutes before blowing himself up as the police vehicle arrived,” Naqvi said while briefing media at the scene.

He noted that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had directed authorities to provide the best medical care for the injured and ensure a swift investigation. “Those behind this cowardly act will be brought to justice,” the interior minister vowed.

Officials said preliminary forensic evidence points to the involvement of Fitna al-Khawarij, a proxy group backed by Indian intelligence and operating through Afghan networks. “The attack bears the hallmarks of Indian-sponsored Afghan Taliban proxies. If a foreign hand is proven, it will not be forgiven,” Naqvi warned.

Security forces and forensic teams cordoned off the area soon after the blast, while Islamabad’s PIMS hospital declared an emergency to treat the wounded. Witnesses reported scenes of chaos as lawyers, petitioners, and police officers rushed to evacuate the courthouse.

A senior security official told reporters that the “head of the suspected bomber” had been recovered from the site, confirming the blast was a suicide attack. The Inspector General of Islamabad Police, Ali Nasir Rizvi, briefed the interior minister on the investigation and ongoing search operation.

The explosion also disrupted court proceedings, forcing the evacuation of judges, lawyers, and civilians from the premises.

Pakistan’s intelligence agencies are now tracing communication links and funding channels associated with Fitna al-Khawarij, believed to be directly supported by Indian intelligence networks and operating under the guise of the Afghan Taliban’s shadow cells.

Officials emphasized that Pakistan remains resolute in combating cross-border terrorism and protecting its citizens. “Peace is our preference, but sovereignty is non-negotiable,” an interior ministry spokesperson said.
