Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have launched a new economic cooperation framework following Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s meeting with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in Riyadh. The two leaders agreed to boost collaboration across key sectors including energy, mining, IT, tourism, and agriculture and are finalizing MoUs for an electrical interconnection project and energy cooperation. The initiative marks a major step toward strengthening trade, investment, and strategic ties between the two nations.

RIYADH, October 28, 2025 — Pakistan Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif met Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud in Riyadh on Monday, marking another milestone in the deepening strategic and economic partnership between the two brotherly nations.

According to a joint statement released after the meeting, the two leaders launched a comprehensive economic cooperation framework designed to strengthen trade, investment, and development ties between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan. The initiative aims to advance shared economic interests, enhance the role of the private sector, and promote mutually beneficial growth across priority sectors.

The framework includes discussions on key collaborative projects in areas such as energy, industry, mining, information technology, tourism, agriculture, and food security. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to building a sustainable economic partnership that aligns with the aspirations of their leadership and the welfare of their people.

Among the highlighted initiatives was the electrical interconnection project between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan a major infrastructure plan intended to strengthen energy cooperation and ensure reliable power connectivity between the two countries. Officials also noted that a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for cooperation in the energy sector is being finalized, signaling a new era of strategic energy collaboration.

The meeting also emphasized the Saudi-Pakistani Supreme Coordination Council, which is expected to convene soon to further refine the framework’s implementation strategy. The council will serve as a highl evel platform for policy alignment, monitoring project progress, and identifying new investment opportunities.

Both Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman reiterated their shared vision of expanding bilateral trade and investment, consolidating fraternal ties, and supporting regional economic stability.

The Riyadh meeting underscores Pakistan and Saudi Arabia’s growing convergence on economic and strategic fronts, reflecting a commitment to long-term cooperation rooted in mutual trust and shared prosperity.
