  • Pakistan has strongly rejected Kabul’s allegations of a secret US drone pact, reaffirming its sovereignty and commitment to peace. DG ISPR Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said Pakistan “has no such agreement” and will not allow its soil to be used against Afghanistan.

ISLAMABAD, November 3, 2025

Pakistan’s military on Monday firmly denied allegations by Afghanistan’s interim administration that Islamabad had entered into an agreement with the United States permitting Washington to conduct drone strikes in Afghanistan from Pakistani territory.

Speaking to a group of journalists in Rawalpindi, the Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR), Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, dismissed the claims as “baseless and politically motivated,” asserting that Pakistan has no such pact or arrangement with the United States that allows the use of its airspace or land for strikes inside Afghanistan.

“This allegation is false. Pakistan has not, and will not, allow any country to use its soil for attacks against another state,” Lt Gen Chaudhry said, emphasizing that Islamabad’s policy remains rooted in non-interference and mutual respect for sovereignty.

The remarks came in response to comments made by Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesperson for Afghanistan’s interim government, who alleged that American drones were using Pakistani airspace to operate over Afghanistan. He claimed that Kabul had urged Islamabad to ensure its territory and airspace are not used for hostile actions.

Rejecting the accusations, Pakistan reiterated its commitment to maintaining peaceful and cooperative relations with Afghanistan. “Islamabad believes in constructive engagement, not blame games,” an official source added, highlighting Pakistan’s continuous efforts to enhance border management and prevent cross-border terrorism.

Lt Gen Chaudhry also revealed that Pakistan’s ongoing counterterrorism operations have eliminated more than 112 foreign fighters over the past few months, underlining Islamabad’s resolve to protect national security and prevent the infiltration of militant elements from across the border.

The military spokesperson further emphasized that Pakistan has made “tremendous sacrifices” in the fight against terrorism and remains dedicated to ensuring peace not just within its own borders but across the region.

“It is unfortunate that certain elements in Kabul are trying to deflect internal security failures by leveling baseless accusations against Pakistan,” he added, stressing that Pakistan’s armed forces remain vigilant and committed to regional stability through cooperation, not confrontation.

Pakistan’s principled stance

The statement aligns with Pakistan’s long-standing position that it will not allow its soil to be used for any foreign military operations. Islamabad maintains that any regional security concern should be addressed through dialogue, intelligence sharing, and joint border mechanisms rather than unfounded claims.

Observers note that the allegations from Kabul come amid heightened tensions along the Pak-Afghan border and increased militant activity by Fitna Al Khwarij (formerly known as TTP) inside Pakistani territory a development that Islamabad attributes to weak border controls on the Afghan side.

A call for cooperation, not confrontation

Pakistan has repeatedly urged Afghanistan’s interim authorities to act against terrorist groups operating from its soil and to work jointly toward securing peace in the region. Officials in Islamabad view such allegations as counterproductive to mutual efforts aimed at combating extremism and fostering regional stability.
