Pakistan’s Army Chief, Field Marshal Asim Munir, met the UK’s top military leadership in Rawalpindi to discuss regional security and defense cooperation. The meeting reinforces long-standing military ties, including counterterrorism collaboration, joint training programs, and officer education initiatives.
ISLAMABAD, November 6, 2025 – Pakistan’s Army Chief, Field Marshal Asim Munir, met with the United Kingdom’s Chief of the General Staff, General Sir Charles Roland Vincent Walker, in Rawalpindi on Thursday to discuss regional security and ways to enhance defense cooperation, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) confirmed.
The meeting underscores the long-standing military ties between Pakistan and the UK, which include collaboration in counterterrorism, joint training programs, and professional military education. This year has seen a series of high-level exchanges aimed at deepening defense coordination between the two countries.
High-Level Discussions at GHQ
The meeting took place at Pakistan’s General Headquarters, where General Walker was received with a guard of honor. According to the ISPR, discussions covered matters of mutual interest, regional security, and steps to strengthen bilateral defense cooperation. Both sides reiterated the importance of continued collaboration to ensure peace and stability in the region.
General Walker also praised the Pakistan Army for its significant role in counterterrorism operations and its contributions to regional stability.
Ongoing Strategic Cooperation
Field Marshal Munir had previously visited the UK in February for a military-to-military dialogue, meeting General Walker, UK Chief of Defense Staff Admiral Tony Radakin, and National Security Adviser Jonathan Powell to discuss defense and security cooperation. Additionally, Pakistan’s Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, engaged with senior British defense officials last year, further cementing the ongoing strategic dialogue.
Defense Training and Joint Programs
Defense cooperation between the two nations extends to training Pakistani officers at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst and the Royal College of Defense Studies. Pakistan Army teams also regularly participate in the UK’s Cambrian Patrol competition, a prestigious military exercise testing tactical and operational skills.
The meeting highlights Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening defense partnerships and promoting regional security through close collaboration with allied nations.
