In a major step toward strengthening coastal defence and operational versatility, Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf visited forward posts in the Creeks Area to review the Pakistan Navy’s operational preparedness and combat readiness. During the visit, three state-of-the-art 2400 TD Hovercraft were officially inducted into Pakistan Marines, marking another milestone in the modernization of the Navy’s coastal and amphibious warfare capabilities.

KARACHI – In a strong reaffirmation of Pakistan Navy’s commitment to maritime security and national defence, Admiral Naveed Ashraf, Chief of the Naval Staff, paid a visit to the forward posts in the Creeks Area — a strategically sensitive zone located along the Pakistan–India coastal boundary. The visit focused on assessing combat readiness and operational preparedness of deployed units safeguarding the nation’s maritime frontiers.

During his visit, the Pakistan Navy inducted three cutting-edge 2400 TD Hovercraft into the Pakistan Marines. The addition of these multi-terrain vessels marks a significant leap forward in the Navy’s mobility and response capabilities, particularly in the challenging littoral and creek environments of Sindh’s southern coast.

Enhanced Capabilities for Creek Operations

The newly inducted hovercraft are designed to operate seamlessly across multiple surfaces — including shallow waters, sand dunes, marshes, and boggy zones — areas where conventional craft are unable to maneuver effectively.

This capability allows Pak Marines to conduct rapid deployments and amphibious operations across difficult coastal terrain, granting them a decisive operational edge in surveillance, patrolling, and defensive missions.

Navy officials noted that this advancement would significantly strengthen Pakistan Navy’s ability to respond swiftly and decisively to potential threats in coastal and creek areas — a region often viewed as a flashpoint for infiltration and maritime boundary challenges.

Naval Chief’s Address to the Troops

Addressing officers and personnel during the visit, Admiral Naveed Ashraf emphasized that the induction of these hovercraft symbolizes Pakistan Navy’s vision of continuous modernization and its unwavering resolve to defend the nation’s maritime frontiers.

The induction of these new platforms symbolizes Pakistan Navy’s vision to modernize and reaffirm our resolve in bolstering the defence of the country’s maritime frontiers — especially the coastal belt and the Creeks Area,” the Naval Chief stated.

He further highlighted the vital importance of Sea Lines of Communication (SLOCs) and maritime security, describing them as the cornerstone of Pakistan’s sovereignty and economic stability.

Sea Lines of Communication and maritime security are not just military requirements — they are vital pillars of our nation’s prosperity,” Admiral Ashraf said.
“Pakistan Navy stands as the vanguard of peace and stability in the Indian Ocean Region and remains a significant stakeholder in regional maritime security.”

Defending Every Inch of the Coastline

Underscoring the Navy’s vigilance and strength, the Admiral reaffirmed the Navy’s unyielding commitment to national defence across all domains — from coastal creeks to the open sea.

“We know how to defend our sovereignty and every inch of our maritime frontiers, from Sir Creek to Jiwani,” he declared.

He assured the nation that Pakistan Navy’s defence capabilities remain robust, backed by the unwavering morale of its personnel and their readiness to defend the nation’s maritime interests against any aggression.

Strategic Significance of the Creeks Area

The Creeks Area, a network of narrow waterways and marshlands along Pakistan’s southeastern coastline, holds immense strategic and economic importance. Apart from being the southernmost boundary with India, it serves as a vital maritime corridor supporting fishing, trade, and surveillance operations.

By inducting modern hovercraft into its fleet, Pakistan Navy has enhanced its ability to patrol and secure these waters, ensuring the integrity of the nation’s coastal frontier and the protection of its maritime sovereignty.
