Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has warned that Afghanistan has expanded its terror war to Islamabad, declaring that Pakistan is now prepared for a conventional military response if provoked. Following the Islamabad court suicide attack, Asif said the assault was a direct message from Kabul and vowed that Pakistan would defend its sovereignty with full strength.

ISLAMABAD — Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif on Tuesday issued a stark warning to Kabul, declaring that “Afghanistan has expanded its terror war to our capital, Islamabad,” and affirming that “Pakistan is now ready for a conventional war if provoked.”

In a strongly worded post on X (formerly Twitter), Khawaja Asif said:

“We are in a state of war. Anyone who thinks that the Pakistan Army is fighting this war only in the border regions or Balochistan should take today’s attack as a wake-up call. This is a war for all of Pakistan.”

The Defence Minister added that the rulers of Kabul have the power to stop terrorism inside Pakistan but have instead allowed the menace to reach Islamabad’s heart.

“Bringing this war all the way to Islamabad is a message from Kabul a message that Pakistan has the full strength to respond to, with the help of God,” he asserted.

Speaking later on journalist Asma Shirazi’s TV program Faisla Aap Ka on Hum News, Asif said Pakistan’s patience was running out.

“Afghanistan has expanded its terror war to our capital. Now Pakistan is ready for a conventional war. Our armed forces have fought and won before — and we will do it again if required.”

Asif emphasized that Pakistan’s Army is giving daily sacrifices to protect the nation’s sovereignty and citizens, and that the Islamabad blast should serve as a national wake-up call.

“Negotiations with Kabul are meaningless when their soil is being used to sponsor attacks against our people. This is not just a border war anymore — it’s a war for Pakistan’s existence,” he declared.

Security experts in Islamabad said the statement reflects a shift in Pakistan’s defence posture, as the government moves toward a tougher stance against terror sanctuaries operating inside Afghanistan.
They noted that Pakistan has exercised restraint for months, seeking regional peace, but the recent attacks — including in Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and now the federal capital — have left Islamabad with “no more diplomatic room.”

The Defence Minister concluded his address by reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to defending its borders, people, and peace at all costs:

“Pakistan seeks peace — but we will not hesitate to defend ourselves. Every drop of blood spilled on this soil will be avenged.”
