China’s Defense Ministry says it is open to sharing its latest military technology with “peace-loving countries” as Indonesia reportedly considers buying J-10 fighter jets, reflecting deepening regional defense cooperation.

Beijing, October 31, 2025 — China has indicated a readiness to deepen defense cooperation with friendly nations, following reports that Indonesia is considering the purchase of Chinese-made J-10 fighter jets.

At a regular press briefing on Thursday, Zhang Xiaogang, spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of National Defense, said that Beijing maintains a “prudent and responsible attitude” toward the export of military equipment.

“We are willing to share the new achievements of our equipment development with peace-loving countries, jointly safeguarding international and regional peace and stability,” Zhang stated.

While Zhang did not confirm the reported deal, his comments come amid growing defense ties between China and Southeast Asian nations. The J-10, developed by the Chengdu Aircraft Industry Group, is a multirole fighter widely regarded as one of China’s most advanced combat aircraft, already in service with the People’s Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF) and recently exported to Pakistan.

If finalized, the Indonesia-China defense collaboration could mark a significant step in Jakarta’s ongoing efforts to diversify its military procurement, reducing reliance on Western suppliers. Analysts view the potential deal as part of a broader pattern of regional military modernization and strategic balancing in the Asia-Pacific.

China has in recent years emphasized that its defense exports are aimed at promoting mutual security rather than fueling competition, positioning itself as a “partner in peace” rather than a global arms competitor.
