Jordan’s King Abdullah II on Monday commended the Pakistan Army’s significant role in promoting regional peace and stability during a meeting with Pakistan’s Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), Field Marshal Asim Munir, who is on an official visit to the Hashemite Kingdom.
According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the meeting was also attended by Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II. Discussions centered on strengthening bilateral cooperation in defence and security, as well as reviewing regional developments of mutual concern.
“His Majesty appreciated the professionalism and contributions of the Pakistan Armed Forces towards regional peace and stability and expressed his desire to further strengthen defence collaboration between the two brotherly countries,” the ISPR statement said.
Field Marshal Munir conveyed warm regards from the people, government, and military of Pakistan to King Abdullah II, reaffirming Islamabad’s commitment to deepening its fraternal relationship with Jordan.
During his stay in Amman, the army chief also called on Major General Yousef Ahmed Al-Huneiti, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the Jordan Armed Forces. Upon arrival at the General Headquarters, COAS Munir was presented with a guard of honour. Both sides reaffirmed their historic defence ties and mutual commitment to regional peace and security.
Major General Al-Huneiti lauded the Pakistan Armed Forces’ continued efforts in fostering stability across the region and highlighted the longstanding military cooperation between the two nations.
The visit to Jordan follows Field Marshal Munir’s earlier official trip to Egypt, where he met Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi. Both leaders underscored the importance of stronger strategic coordination and enhanced collaboration in security, technology, and economic sectors.
The back-to-back visits underscore Pakistan’s growing engagement with Middle Eastern partners to boost defence diplomacy and strategic cooperation in an evolving regional landscape.
