DOHA 06 NOV 2026 — In a significant diplomatic engagement, President Asif Ali Zardari met with Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Amir of the State of Qatar, in Doha to discuss new avenues for cooperation in defence, economy, and cultural exchange.
The meeting underscored the long standing brotherhood between Pakistan and Qatar, with both leaders emphasizing their shared vision for peace, prosperity, and development within the Muslim world.
The Amir of Qatar warmly welcomed President Zardari, recognizing the vital contributions of the Pakistani community in Qatar’s growth and progress. He praised Pakistan’s achievements and expressed optimism about increasing Pakistani participation in Qatar’s development projects in the coming years.
President Zardari conveyed heartfelt greetings and best wishes from the Government and people of Pakistan, commending Qatar’s remarkable transformation under Sheikh Tamim’s visionary leadership. He described Qatar as a global hub for humanitarian diplomacy and dialogue, especially lauding its leadership role in advocating for a ceasefire and humanitarian aid in Gaza.

Reaffirming Pakistan’s solidarity, Zardari condemned Israel’s aggression against Qatar and reiterated Pakistan’s diplomatic support for the Gulf state at international platforms.

Sheikh Tamim noted with satisfaction the Pakistan-Saudi Arabia defence agreement, calling it a positive and timely step. He emphasized Pakistan’s unique strategic position maintaining strong relations with China, the West, and Gulf nations alike.
President Zardari also acknowledged Qatar’s Education Above All Foundation, the Qatar Fund for Development, and the cultural initiatives led by Sheikha Moza bint Nasser and Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad Al Thani for their efforts in advancing global education and cultural exchange.
The leaders discussed Qatar’s role in the UN led Doha Process on Afghanistan, recognizing its contribution to international coordination on humanitarian, development, and security issues. The Amir expressed hope that Pakistan and Afghanistan would overcome current tensions and move toward lasting stability.
President Zardari extended a formal invitation to the Qatari Amir to visit Pakistan, which Sheikh Tamim graciously accepted, confirming plans for an official visit early next year.
The meeting was also attended by Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Pakistan’s Ambassador to Qatar, marking a new chapter in Islamabad-Doha relations.
