Riyadh / Islamabad — October 27, 2025:
Pakistani Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has arrived in Saudi Arabia for a three day official visit, marking his first trip to Riyadh since the signing of a landmark defence cooperation treaty between the two nations last month.
Invited by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the Prime Minister is leading a high-level delegation that includes Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar, along with senior cabinet members. The visit aims to deepen economic and strategic cooperation and to represent Pakistan at the 9th Future Investment Initiative (FII9) one of the world’s most influential investment forums.
According to Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, this visit underscores Islamabad’s growing focus on economic diplomacy, innovation, and sustainable partnerships. The Prime Minister’s agenda reflects Pakistan’s vision of aligning with Riyadh’s Vision 2030 while inviting Saudi and global investors to participate in Pakistan’s infrastructure, technology, energy, and human resource sectors.
During his stay, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will hold high level meetings with the Saudi leadership, including Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, to explore enhanced cooperation in trade, investment, energy diversification, and manpower development. Regional security, counterterrorism cooperation, and evolving global economic challenges are also expected to feature prominently in the discussions.
The FII9 Summit, themed “The Key to Prosperity: Unlocking New Frontiers of Growth,” will gather world leaders, innovators, and investors to deliberate on innovation, sustainability, and economic inclusion in an increasingly interconnected world. Pakistan’s participation signals its determination to reposition itself as a rising hub for investment and a gateway to South and Central Asia.
On the sidelines of the forum, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is also expected to meet with heads of major international organizations and leaders from other participating nations. These meetings will focus on attracting foreign investment, showcasing Pakistan’s renewable energy potential, and advancing joint ventures in technology and green development.
The visit follows a renewed wave of cooperation between Islamabad and Riyadh, bolstered by the defence treaty signed in September 2025, which formalized military training exchanges, defence production collaboration, and intelligence sharing mechanisms.
As Pakistan seeks to stabilize its economy and attract global partners, the Saudi visit is widely viewed as a turning point in Islamabad’s diplomatic engagement—transforming traditional ties based on brotherhood and faith into a modern, strategic, and mutually beneficial partnership
