Pakistan and Tajikistan have committed to closer defence collaboration, focusing on training, counter-terrorism, and regional security, following a high level meeting between their defence leaders at GHQ Islamabad.
Islamabad, Pakistan – In a significant move to enhance regional security and defence cooperation, Pakistan and Tajikistan have pledged closer ties following high-level talks at the Pakistan Army’s General Headquarters (GHQ).
Colonel General Sobirzoda Emomali Abdulrahim, Minister of Defence of Tajikistan, called on Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), HJ, Chief of Army Staff (#COAS) of the Pakistan Army, at GHQ. During the meeting, both sides discussed matters of mutual interest, including regional security, military training, and bilateral defence collaboration.
The discussions highlighted a shared commitment to expanding military-to-military cooperation, with a particular focus on training programs, counter-terrorism measures, and joint efforts to promote regional stability.
Colonel General Emomali praised the professionalism of the Pakistan Army and recognized its pivotal role in fostering peace and stability across the region. COAS Field Marshal Munir, while underscoring the importance of collective efforts for peace and prosperity, reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to deepening defence and security ties with Tajikistan.
This visit signals a new phase in Pakistan-Tajikistan defence relations, emphasizing collaboration to address emerging security challenges and strengthen regional partnerships.
