Pakistan’s Defense Minister Khawaja Asif has issued a stern warning to the Afghan Taliban over ongoing Fitna al-Khawarij operations. He stated that Pakistan is ready to respond with military force if the militants continue their attacks and expressed doubts that Mullah Hibatullah will issue a Fatwa against the group.

Islamabad, November 2025 – Pakistan’s Defense Minister, Khawaja Asif, has issued a stern warning to the Afghan Taliban over the persistent activities of the Fitna al Khawarij, signaling that Islamabad may consider “Open War” if the issue is not addressed.

Addressing reporters on Thursday, Asif described the Fitna al-Khawarij’s cross-border operations as a “Red Line” for Pakistan, emphasizing that national security will not tolerate continued attacks from groups operating from Afghan soil.

“The Fitna al-Khawarij’s actions directly threaten our citizens and our sovereignty. If these attacks do not stop, Pakistan is prepared to respond decisively, including military options,” Asif stated.

The Defense Minister also disclosed that Pakistan has formally requested a Fatwa from Mullah Hibatullah, the Afghan Taliban’s supreme leader, condemning Fitna al Khawarij operations inside Pakistan. However, Asif expressed skepticism about the response, noting he does not believe the Afghan Taliban leader will issue such a directive.

Quoted from “The Pakistan Experience” Podcast Program, Asif’s remarks highlight Islamabad’s frustration with the lack of cooperation from Kabul in curbing Fitna al Khawarij activities.

The Fitna al Khawarij, responsible for numerous attacks across Pakistan in recent years, has long been a persistent threat to internal security. Analysts say Islamabad’s warnings mark a significant escalation in rhetoric, signaling that Pakistan is ready to adopt a more assertive posture to safeguard its borders and citizens.

Military experts and political observers note that while Pakistan has previously relied on diplomatic channels and intelligence cooperation with Afghanistan to mitigate Fitna al-Khawarij threats, repeated failures to curb the group may now force Islamabad to consider cross-border action, raising regional security concerns.

“We have exhausted peaceful options, and Pakistan will not remain passive while its people and infrastructure are targeted. This is a matter of national survival,” Asif reiterated on the podcast.

The Defense Ministry’s statement comes amid increasing public pressure for the government to secure the country against terrorist attacks and strengthen border control mechanisms. Pakistan has consistently urged Afghanistan to take strong action against militant sanctuaries, warning that continued inaction will be met with firm military measures.

As the situation develops, both regional and international stakeholders are closely monitoring Pakistan’s next steps, given the delicate security balance in South Asia and ongoing efforts to stabilize Afghanistan.
