ISLAMABAD — October 16, 2025 — Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry announced on Thursday that Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, held a telephone conversation with Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, commending Islamabad’s efforts in promoting regional peace and stability.
The call comes amid heightened tensions in South Asia and the Middle East. Pakistan has recently faced border clashes and airstrike exchanges with Afghanistan, while attention remains on Gaza, where a fragile ceasefire continues to hold, accompanied by challenges in reconstruction and the repatriation of displaced people.
Earlier this year, in May 2025, Pakistan also endured its most serious conflict in years with archrival India, exchanging artillery, missile, and drone strikes before a U.S.-brokered ceasefire restored calm. These overlapping regional pressures have prompted Islamabad to reinforce diplomatic ties with key partners, including Saudi Arabia.
According to a statement by the Pakistani Foreign Office, Prince Faisal “appreciated Pakistan’s commitment to peace and security in the region and emphasized the importance of collective efforts for stability.” In response, Dar “expressed gratitude for the Kingdom’s continued support and reaffirmed Pakistan’s resolve to work closely with Saudi Arabia to further strengthen cooperation on regional and international issues.”
The long-standing partnership between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia spans religious, economic, and security dimensions. Saudi Arabia has frequently supported Pakistan in regional diplomacy and development finance, while Islamabad has consistently aligned with Riyadh on key regional and international matters.
This recent exchange underscores Pakistan’s ongoing efforts to strengthen alliances with strategic partners while navigating a complex regional security landscape.
